This means that the ocarina can not play the notes

A piano have a lot of octaves, so a lot of note

And thats Unfortunally not the case for ocarina, notes they can play depend of the number of hole and in witch key the ocarina is tuned

For exemple a 12holes C alto/tenor ocarina can play from A4 to F6

A 12hole G alto/tenor  ocarina play from E4 to C6

On a tab page, u can choose ur ocarina in the little barre “ocarina” who show u many type of ocarina

When u choose one its changing the tab to show it for the ocarina u just choosen

So if a tab is maded for a C ocarina, obviously theres gonna be note that a G cant play, its where X comes

Its mean this notes didnt exist on this ocarina

For “-” and “--” its showing how long u have to hold the note

“-” is one time (on a sheet its like a white note) 

“--” is two time 

than why include them at all on the published ocarina tab? thats just confussing as hell lol also ty for the expmplimation for the - - ^^

Well the non avaible ocarina on list for a tab is in red while ocarina who can play it is in green 
And even if u have only a 12hole but like a song whos for double ocarina, well u can still play whats ur ocarina can and enjoy the song 
thats why we keep it avaible 
So everyone can enjoy their favorites song with what they have 
Also cause even a double ocarina have a lot of thing he cant play, i often find myself not making a tab and playing the song cause ONLY 1 note are missing and thats sad when the whole rest of the son is playable 

 

If u see the ocarina name in red, its mean theres not it can't play 
It can be for only 1 note thats not important as it can be for too many notes 
So thats why we're letting it avaible 
u can take a look at it and see if its a no or if some are playable

so its safe to assume if i see anything in (   )X2 i just play whats in the brackets twice right?

right brackets are here to simplify tab writing and reading 
when for exemple having a la sol sol sol sol re its easier to read la (sol)x4 re  

ok so if its mi mi mi mi (sol)x4 i only play sol x4 right? so what if tis mi mi mi mi sol)x4?  so i play all of that again?? or just a typo and missing the (????
